The impressive bridge looks like a sunken corridor, as if the water has parted for the pedestrians. It is installed in a 17th century fort – Fort De Roovere. It was designed by RO & AD Architects, who had
decided to make it that way, so it wouldn’t stand out in the historic fort complex.
The bridge is made of Accoya wood, that is treated with anti-fungal coating, that enables the wood not to erode. And besides being really practical, the bridge makes this surprising impression of the water being divided.
